Orangeries are typically built as additions to period properties as they look particularly elegant and, therefore, are in keeping with the main structure of the property. However, they can also be constructed on a new-built home looking equally as stylish.

The main difference between an orangery and a conservatory is that more brickwork tends to be used in the case of the former with larger windows and a lantern roof which is only partially glazed unlike a conservatory.

They look extremely ornate and do tend to be larger in size than a conservatory. In the main, orangeries are constructed in wood with brick walling although it is possible to purchase them with uPVC rather than wooden frames.
